Reading - Grammaticality and Grammar

super short overview

Goldberg, A. 2008.  Universal Grammar? Or prerequisites for natural language? Brain and Behavioral Sciences 31: 552-523

A short but ore detailed discussion

Dąbrowska, E. 2015. What exactly is Universal Grammar, and has anyone seen it? Frontiers in Psychology 6:852.

Old and often criticised summary but a good place to start

Tomasello (2009) - The usage-based theory of language acquisition, E. Bavin & L. Naigles, (eds.), Cambridge Handbook of Child Language, 89-106. Cambridge: CUP.

Intro to idea of constructions in language learning

Reading - Patterns and Usage-Based Methods

This is too broad a subject to offer readings but if you are interested in the method I presented, here are a couple of my own books and stuff (because I have them and have copyright!). I'll try to find (download) some other things shortly.

In the two books, the introductions are probably useful for an overview. The article looks at specifically applying the method we examined in the seminar to polysemy. SO what we did in class, that's why I include it.
